Start Fresh CT is a non profit organization established in 2016 and staffed entirely by volunteers.  Our mission is to resettle refugees and other displaced persons by providing them with the necessities to start a new life in the Greater New London area.  While co-sponsoring these families with the Integrated Refugee Immigration Services (IRIS) of CT, we have settled families from Syria, Sudan, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Honduras, ElSalvador, and Guatemala. Local Start Fresh volunteers have rented and furnished apartments,  provided food, clothing and transportation and ensured families have access to health and dental care.  Additionally, we enroll clients in English language classes and children in schools.We assist in finding employment,  securing state IDs and driver's licences.

As federal funding cuts continue, we are preparing to maintain essential services with the resources we have available to us. We rely heavily on donations as many refugees are still in need of our guidance and support. and acculturation to the United States.

We are a country of immigrants and we have historically always extended help to those fleeing persecution, hunger and conflict. We appreciate the support of our community.
